Sable puppies are the best! I have come to adore sable-colored puppies. They are like the "Forest Gump" quote: "You never know what you're going to get!" We had a sable male that started out predominantly black with a splash of fawn on his head. As he grew his coloring lightened and his facial markings became more and more exquisite. I have watched their color changes through the eye of a kaleidoscope, each day they surprise me with a new look. It may only be a subtle change in color shade or a new line that has appeared in their markings, but each is unique.
One male had a black mask on his face with stunning golden undertones and the female from the same litter turned a creamy fawn with a buttery cream heart marking surrounding her face. Such beauty! I have also seen sables that are black and red and then end up all red. Some sables have light and dark patches that end up much like a parti pattern. I am intrigued to find out how they finally turn out, aren't you?
